Table of Content
Kodi is one of the best and most sought after media center or a home theater software. It can be installed on a wide range of devices. This means that it’s designed to play your family movie clips, commercial movies, music, photos, TV shows, and more.
Let’s have a brief review of the codename that comes with each Kodi version that identifies each one from another. Most of the content libraries and the majority of codes were reprogramed for an all powered future-proof Kodi code in support for the different operating system. New versions were released with great features boasting the newest upgrade from its forerunner.
Kodi 16 was Jarvis, released on February 20th, 2016.
Kodi 17 was Krypton, released on February 5th, 2017.
Kodi 18 Leia, was released on January 29th, 2019. Its latest version Kodi v18.7 was released recently.
Kodi 19 codename “Matrix” is the next big released from the major reform of the popular home theatre developer. As of this writing, there is no official release date yet. However, we could expect it to be released in the next few days within this year 2020.
TRIVIA: Code names are chosen based on the alphabetical order. Since 2008 each released version has received a code name next to the version number. It’s a kind of a tradition that is not only applicable for software but also for hardware, by providing each development iteration a code name in a certain category.
From Kodi forums and recent reviews, we can expect the following features.
